Pax Christi Chorale is known for presenting dramatic choral masterpieces, performing with passion, conviction and heart.
Artistic Director Stephanie Martin’s imaginative programming engages audiences with dramatic story-telling through oratorio and rarely-heard masterworks. Since its inception in 1987 the choir has grown to over 80 singers, and has performed ambitious works including Elgar’s masterpiece The Kingdom in Toronto’s Koerner Hall, Britten’s Saint Nicolas, and Handel’s oratorio Solomon.
Pax Christi Chorale was founded in 1987 by Dr. Robert Loewen, current President Emily Burgetz and Ron Sawatsky, inspired by the success of a choir assembled for the Toronto celebration of the 1986 Bicentennial of Mennonites in Canada. Some of the original 35 singers are still in the choir today.
Pax Christi Chorale is a member of Choirs Ontario and Choral Canada.
